To boost the cart speed from zero to maximum, you need 4 powered rails in sequence. To maintain maximum speed you need one powered rail each 26 blocks (25 blocks of rail, 1 block of powered rail). To maintain maximum speed on slopes, you need to power each second block on the slope. Share.

To maintain top speed, place one powered rail every 38 blocks. How many powered rails do you need? To boost the cart speed from zero to maximum, you need 4 powered rails in sequence. To maintain maximum speed you need one powered rail each 26 blocks (25 blocks of rail, 1 block of powered rail).

The Optimal Spacing for individual powered rails on a level Track system is 1 powered rail per 27 regular rails(Blocks( for an empty utility cart. However, a full utility Minecart would require 1 powered rail per 6 regular rails (Blocks). How Often Do You Need Powered Rails? 1 rail every 38 blocks let you travel just under max speed the entire way.

Build a track going up the way you want it. Fire off the minecart with either a hopper in it or a chest. Start with 4 rails and then a powered rail. If it makes it, add one more rail between. Then repeat adding one more till it stops climbing. Then we will know. I also am pretty sure if you use a hopper you’ll get more range out of it.

For all other (utility) minecart types, the optimal spacing of powered rails on a level track is to use 1 every 27 blocks for empty utility carts (1 powered rail followed by 26 normal rails). A full utility minecart requires much more at 1 every 6 blocks .

the wiki says 1 per 34 blocks to maintain max speed… i think that’s what i typically do, but it also says the optimal spacing is 1 per 38 blocks (1 powered, 37 normal rail, repeat) and you only lose a nearly undetectable amount of speed.

1) I think it has to be a player, but it’s possible any living entity counts. (Not powered or storage minecarts) 2) 1 rail every 38 blocks lets you travel just under max speed the entire way….

I go every 32, if you don’t have a good boost at the beginning it can get a little slow before the first boost but it keeps it at top speed with minimum usage. As for uphill, just experiments with how few you need and how much you’re willing to spend, I do around 1 every 3 but it varies.

For all other (utility) minecart types, the optimal spacing of powered rails on a level track is to use 1 every 27 blocks for empty utility carts (1 powered rail followed by 26 normal rails). What is a powered rail in Minecraft?

A Powered Rail is a block that decreases and increases the speed of Minecarts along a Rail system. It was added as a response to the minecart booster bug, which was fixed with the release of Beta 1.6 and 0.8.0 for Minecraft: Pocket Edition. Like Detector Rails and Activator Rails, and unlike regular rails, powered rails cannot be curved.
