@PorTechPoint1 There is currently no way to upgrade game editions. If you wish to own the Gold Edition of Battlefield 2042, you should refund the Standard Edition and purchase the Gold Edition directly.

You can still buy the Gold Edition but you still have to pay full price for it. If you already accepted the gift than I think it’s too late for your friend to refund it. I would try calling Steam directly and talk to them about it but either way you would still have to pay full price for the Gold Edition.
If you want to play the early access (6th through 12th) get the gold version. If you already got the standard edition i think the only way (to get gold) is to cancel it(standard) via customer support and get the gold version instead. It’s like 20 more to play a week before standard, you also get cosmetics and battlepasses.
You may be able to subscribe to EA play Pro to get all the ultimate edition stuff, and then just unsub and purchase the base game for cheaper – keeping all the Ultimate stuff. Idk how the season passes will work though.
