@TyraxLightning There is currently no way to upgrade any Edition of the game outside EA Play Pro. The only work-around would be to refund the Battlefield 2042 Standard Edition and purchase the Edition you want.

You can still buy the Gold Edition but you still have to pay full price for it. If you already accepted the gift than I think it’s too late for your friend to refund it. I would try calling Steam directly and talk to them about it but either way you would still have to pay full price for the Gold Edition.
If you want to play the early access (6th through 12th) get the gold version. If you already got the standard edition i think the only way (to get gold) is to cancel it(standard) via customer support and get the gold version instead. It’s like 20 more to play a week before standard, you also get cosmetics and battlepasses.
I pre ordered battlefield 2042 standard edition and was going to use my steam wallet to upgrade to gold but instead it used bot my credit card and steam wallet. EA confirms BF2042 is 6999 on PS5 and Xbox Series XS consoles and 5999 on PS4 Xbox One without a free next-gen upgrade.
Just refund to steam wallet then buy the gold version. The refund is still available without issue at the moment.
