Yes, both. I can vouch for this as I had to do it not but 2 weeks ago. Tried the expansion first (thinking they might have been nice and merged them and was unable to even install with downloading the regular first. Both are fairly small downloads, I think I was playing within 2 hours on a mid level DSL package in the US.

Usually the “Script error” happens, when the Diablo II download folder is on a different partition of Windows. Copy Diablo II Download folder to the Windows partition (usually C:). Rerun the installation (for the installation you can choose a different partition).

I’ve uninstalled diablo 2 to install from battlenet to avoid playing from disc. I play a lot at the moment, and I’ve experienced old discs shattering in the drive before. I asked blizzard on twitter, and they said I can install from battlenet to avoid playing from disc.

Nope, Bnet chars are saved on blizz servers and you cannot move them anywhere, not to sp, nor to other servers. It would just fill sp with dupes anyways.

It is not possible to link from in-game in Diablo III. Limitations. A Battle.net account can be linked to one Xbox Live, one Playstation Network, and one Nintendo account. It is not possible to link the same console account to multiple Battle.net accounts. You can unlink accounts at any time.
