Air Roll It is one of the most important controls in the game. It’s a button that allows you change from “Yaw” (steering) mid-air, to “Roll” (rolling like a barrel) mid-air.
All you can do is binding air roll left to your square keybind on your ps4 controller and bind your neutral air roll to the same button as a power slide on r1. It doesn’t matter where your air roll left, your air roll right and where your neutral air roll is. As long as you follow that one tip is binding your joystick air roll to your power slide.
I used to use the green button, however this felt awkward as it’s right at the end of the controller. I often found that I couldn’t air roll and boost at the same time which made hitting aerials difficult, so I switched to the whammy bar which feels a lot more natural for me.
The only change I’ve made is air roll to L1 (L bumper), everything else default. I don’t think you’re handicapping yourself, I guess only if you have a button pop off haha. Run whatever’s comfy and doesn’t limit you while your buttons aren’t broken. You could run run normal air roll on X like you said if you’re worried about this happening again.
