Unfortunately you cant. Which makes zero sense as he could play with xbox and pc players, but not ps5. If you got the digital version and have a ps4 still you could always play with him there, and your stats and unlocks will be on that version as well. But that is pretty much the only way to play with your buddy until they get a ps5.
