In the original, her surviving made a lot more sense, as the canon story in the original is she died by Mr X smashing her into a container, not by falling into a black pit of nothing Yeah I guess but still… it seems mainstream to just bring back dead characters now.

But then again, throughout the game Leon gets stabbed, bitten, beaten, impaled, exploded, bodyslammed, etc etc, but then just administers some first aid spray or nibbles a multicolored plant and bam, good as new.
